Back in 2009/2010 Prittlewell Bowls Club looked to start working with young people in the area and trying to get them interested in playing bowls. We invited a selection of schools to attend our club in order that the students could participate in the game along with our offer of free coaching.
In 2011 the club decided to set up a Youth Section which is run by Gary Williams and Gary Tidd with other Committee members able to assist when necessary. This season we have had a good response from our advertisements inviting young people to come to the club for Open Days and practise sessions.
Our club is also working with the Southend-on-Sea Youth Council who sent along a number of people from all backgrounds to have a go at bowls. In addition, we invited Southend United in the Community, who also showed an interest, and they too sent people along to play bowls after their football sessions in Priory Park.
The Club is committed more than ever this year to get a youth team squad set up and playing for Prittlewell Bowls Club. If anyone is interested in playing, or any students would like to come along with their parents, then please contact Gary Williams on 01702 713765 or by e-mail [email protected].

The club has a "Child and Vulnerable People Policy" in place and all the relevant details, together with all the club rules and policies are available,
if required, at the club's pavilion at Priory Park upon request.
We are currntly working closely with these two schools to encourage young people to take part in outdoor activities and, hopefully, interest them in the game of bowls
